Equality and Representation
The Three-Fifths Compromise didn’t allow for
the full representation of all people (particularly
African-Americans) in the United States and was
repealed with the passing of the 14th Amendment
to the Constitution in 1868, which ensured that
all people in the state (but still excluding untaxed
Native Americans) be counted when deciding the
number of Representatives a state is given in the
House.
