Eighteen Year Olds
		Until very recently, the federal voting age sat at 21 years though states could have differing voting ages for state elections.   In 1971, in the midst of the Vietnam War, as eighteen year olds were being drafted and sent to fight in Vietnam, the 26th Amendment was passed guaranteeing eighteen year olds the right to vote.
