My name is Robert Lukes, this page is intended to share information among Collectors of 15 rnd M1 Carbine Magazines. This page is intended to be ever changing as you the fellow collectors add or correct information on this page, or I find new information myself

I currently show that there are 150 different magazines, of which I have 105. Most of this information has come from the Carbine Club News letters, Larry Ruth's "War Baby" Books, Craig Riesch's book "U.S M1 Carbines", along with other collectors, mainly Mr. Stewart, and Mr. Horner. Differences in Type 5 Bases

Style 5A: The sides form a V to the bottom of the Base. A narrow line 1-1/32 long forms the bottom of the ridge. This style of base is very easy to identify and seems to have been used by International Silver Company.

Style 5B: The ridge sides are almost vertical forming a large flat bottom. The bottom measures approximately 1-5/32" long and 5/32" wide. This base seems to be found on magazines made by Bridgeport Metal Goods Comapny.

Style 5C: The ridge sides are again vertical forming a very large flat bottom which measures approximately 1-5/32" long and between 6/32" and 7/32" wide. This style seems to be used by Syemour Smith & Son.

Style 5D: The ridge sides are curved or rounded to the bottom forming a small flat bottom which measures approximately 1-3/32" to 1-1/4" long and 1/4" wide. Manufactures seem to be J.L.Clark, Owens Illinois and Keeler.

Style 5E: The ridge construction is about the same as 5D. The difference is the top ENDS of the ridge, they are square not round. This base seems to be used by Wade Electric.
