A viola duet of a work by Wilhelm Freidmann Bach performed by seniors Reasey Heng and Logan Strawn highlighted the annual fall concert by the BLS Orchestra.
The Heng-Strawn team worked well together, particular during the elegiac Lamento.
Another well-done portion of the show was the full orchestra’s performance of Franz Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 47 in G Major. Coming off the duet by Heng and Strawn, the orchestra gave a rousing performance of this jovial piece.
Other works performed included “Allegro Spiritoso” by Jean-Baptishe Senaille, “Folk Song and Shanty” by Richard Meyer, “American Folk Song Suite” by Arthur Frackenpohl and “Jazz Mood Suites” by Francis Feese.
Jesse L. Suggs, the conductor of the BLS Orchestra, announced the attendance at 230. A cover-dish dinner was held before the performance.
In other news, LaSaundra Lindsey participated in the State Music Convention in Winston-Salem Nov. 7-9.
The Orchestra’s next performance is the Winter Concert Dec. 1. Music from Peter Ilych Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker Suite will be performed. The concert will also feature the BLS Band and Chorus.
