Sean May scored 22 points and Jared Jeffries had 11 as Bloomington North defeated Terre Haute North 60-48 in an IHSAA regional at North Gym Wednesday night.
The Cougars (23-0) will take on New Castle Saturday at 12:15 p.m. in a semi-state contest at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Coach Tom McKinney's Cougars shot 63 percent from the field and had to have the high percentage mark since Terre Haute North (13-11) shot 57 percent.
May, a 6-foot-8 sophomore center, made 8 of 11 from the field and all six free throws to lead North. Jeffries picked up two quick fouls and sat out the entire second quarter. He then faced a box-and-one in the second half.
The Cougars led 37-22 at halftime, but THN closed within 43-35 late in the third quarter. That's when freshman Errek Suhr hit the biggest shot in his young career. Suhr nailed a trey from the left wing to get the lead back to double figures.
Levi Adams led THN with 16 points. Doug Tanner added 14.
New Castle (18-6) whipped Pike 95-77 in another regional game Wednesday night.
Jeffersonville (21-2) and Warren Central (21-5) will play in the other semi-state game Saturday. It will start at 10:30 a.m. at Hinkle. The night game will be played at 8:15 at Hinkle.
