I am a Research Fellow in the Institute for the Material Culture History, Russian Academy of Sciences, St.Petersburg. I graduated from the Leningrad State University in 1978 and received my Ph.D. (1985) and Senior Doctorate (1996) at St.Petersburg (cf.CV). I conducted salvage archaeological excavations in Siberia from 1979 to 1991 and took part in fieldwork in different parts of Russia and abroad. I have published more than 130 papers on archaeology. I am an author of three monographs and the co-author of the manual of Paleolithic archaeology admitted in Russian universities (cf.Bibliography). I am a member of the Editorial Board of the Archaeology, Ethnography and Anthropology of Eurasia. I delivered lectures in many universities, museums and research centers in Russia and abroad (USA, France, Germany, England, and Denmark).My courses include From Central Asia to Alaska: Prehistoric Colonization and Adaptations in Northern Asia. I attended many conferences and International Archaeological Congresses held in Italy and India. Since the 70s, my research program has been directed at the Pleistocene prehistory of Siberia, comparative analysis of the Upper Paleolithic habitat structur es, method and theory of Paleolithic archaeology, and the history of archaeology. More recently, my research efforts have focused on the peopling of America and correlation of prehistoric cultures on both sides of the Pacific.
