Comments: Enjoyed reading the comments on the Rainier. We streamed in several unreps with her. I was in Westpac during the Tonkin Gulf incident, and we were very busy after that. I was trying to find out when AE-14 was decommissioned, but haven't seen anything o it yet.

Comments: I was aboard Ranier briefly during the overhaul at Bethlehem Steel. I remember the new decks being poured and ground in the heads and I think also in the general mess. The red and white plastic stuff that looks like inlaid gravel. The only time I was aboard when under way was from NWS Concord to Bethlehem Steel. I was only on TAD orders. This page is definitely going into my "Favorites List".

Comments: Somebody tell Tom Miner he forgot his new Hong Kong shoes when he left his Rainier stateroom in December '66; I wore them about ten years. Anybody remember why CAPT SMITH wouldn't relieve CAPT O'ROURKE in the South China Sea on time, that stormy day in Au '67? We were lost! LT VINSON was the new navigator, had never been to sea!
Comments: Nice Page!!
Comments: Great web page!!!! A tribute to all AE sailors. In all the pictures of Nam and the AE operations the only differance I can see between our ships is the hull number.
Comments: Would like to make contact with shipmates aboard Rainier from May '54 to Sept. 55.
