The USS Vesuvius (AE-15) Picture Page

Thanks to Darrel Inskeep and the Bremerton newspaper for these great pictures of Rainier's "Sister" ship. Thanks also to Steve Stykes, former Vesuvius navigator and cruise book editor- 1970.

We on Rainier shared many hours in her presence in Vietnam waters. Captain Dicky Weiland was a personal friend (and rival) of Captain Sanderson of Rainier. They were both Naval Aviators doing the mandatory "deep-draft" command before getting a carrier of their own.
