things wrong in my flat
UPDATE. In early 2006 I was contacted by Lovell, and someone came to look at my flat. I asked about the cooker chain and after consulting his superiors on the phone he told me that they don't put cooker chains on electric cookers. I asked about the gap in the corner of the bathroom and they sent a workman who fixed it. I asked about the sink. I showed him the problem and I said that initially I did think that it had been installed badly, but now I was thinking that the sink itself was faulty or substandard. They sent a carpenter to fix it. I asked the carpenter what he intended to do to fix the sink. He didn't tell me. His first language was not English. If he had told me he was going to take up some of my floor covering I would not have let him do it, and I would have explained to him that this would not have fixed the problem. However, once he had started ripping up the floor, I thought it best to let him get on with it. He thought that by lowering the pedestal the sink bowl could be lowered at the front. This did not work. He then said he thought it was faulty.
This just shows that Lovell don't know what they are doing, and even when they say they will fix a problem they can't do it. I regretted my previous decision not to let Lovell workmen back in my flat. All that they have achieved in this latest fiasco is to make problems for me in the future. If there is a leak in the U-bend under the sink (which I have had before) I need to be able to remove the pedestal. This is now not possible as it has been glued to the floor. Also, if there are any leaks it will pool at the base of the pedestal (where I can't see it). Of course, they don't give a damn about that, just as long as they can get their money from the council.
- There are a couple of flats that are empty in my block, but the council is not going to do them up. This to me is the ultimate insanity. They expect people to put up with workmen coming into their flats while they are living there, but they don't want to do up flats that that are empty.
