I personally feel that, simply because we are aware of our surroundings, because we can watch the sun set behind the clouds and appreciate it, because we can feel love, compassion, empathy, sympathy for other humans and non-human beings, there has to be something "more." The only debate I feel is reasonable, is that between two (or more) spiritual people; being those who are searching for the "truth" or "ultimate right," and that are willing to admit their personal beliefs may be less than perfect. I try to be one such person, and if people would like to know/discuss my personal beliefs, I would be more than happy to try to explain how I feel the spiritual world works. :)

I am convinced that true philosophical honesty demands agnosticism, since one cannot say with certainty that god(s) exist, nor can one say with certainly that god(s) do not exist. However, objective study in science and history (including the study of the origins of organized religion) cast serious doubt at least to the truth of claims of organized religion. Indeed, what one will find through objective study is that one's religious beliefs are a result of inculcation rather than revealed truth. One is apt to believe what one is taught from birth to believe.
I grew up a believing in the Methodist version of Christianity because, as I later realized, that was what I was taught to believe. After this realization, I studied world religions and philosophy at Virginia Commonwealth University. Studies in paleoanthropology left me with no doubt that humans evolved from less complex forms. Since evolution is true, then many of the claims of organized religion are untrue, or at least placed in serious doubt.
Saw a page refuting Aquinas' five demonstrations for the exitence of God. Set up these pages to spark others interest. Hope to be fair to both sides. Always open to suggestions. Studied Anthropology, Latin, Philosophy, Religion.
