This layout is very similar to the one I use, but I don't use an athame myself. I've also got a few personal touches added, and they exact layout varies a bit week to week.
*-------------------------------------------------------* | (goddess candle iluminator candle (god candle | | or statue) or statue) | | | | salt bowl wand water bowl | | | | <===athame=|= | | (libation | | plate) cauldron | | | | (matches and pentacle | | bowl for used) censer | *-------------------------------------------------------*
( ) used to indicate use of multiple lines
note:
-Salt and water reperesent the elements of earth and water (receptive elements)
-The censer (incense) and candle fire reperresent air and fire (projective elements)
other things you might want to put on an altar:
scrying (magick) mirror
smudge (sage for purifying smoke)
crystals
feathers (air), sand (earth), and other element symbols
dried herbs
chalice with juice or wine and cakes (if doing simple feast)
totem/power animal symbols
Use your imagination as this is a very personal place!
