Explanation: These tables determine "hits" when off-board or on-board artillery is played. Rate of Fire (ROF) refers to the number of guns being fired. If off-board (not physically on the playing surface) a spotter must be used. On-board also requires a spotter, if the target is not in line of sight (LOS). The player using the artillery designates an area that is the intended target. If 1/72nd scale models are being played, the impact area will be 12 inches in diameter from the target's center. Individual rolls are made for the targets within the targeted areas to determine if they are hit.

Example: Monty has brought up 8 - 25 pdrs to wake up Rommel at his headquarters in North Africa. Within the targeted area, are two tanks (AFV's), a truck (soft vehicle), an AT gun and 2 squads of infantry. As they are in the desert, they are basically all in the open. The first rounds fired determine where the first rounds land - see adjustment table above.

With a single ten sided die, the firer rolls a "3", which is is 3 inches to the left of the center of the target. As the intended target(s) are still within the 12 inch radius (off-board), no adjustment is necessary. The ROF factor is "8" - The first roll (with two percentile dice) on tank #1 is a "34." A miss. The second roll on tank #2 is an "03". A HIT! The third roll is on truck #1 is "17" exactly what is needed for a hit. The forth roll on the AT gun is a "29" a miss. The fifth roll, squad #1 is a "21". The last roll on infantry #2, is a "98" - they did not even hear the explosion.

Each unit that was hit is then subjected to a second roll to determine damage, if any. For the infantry, 25 pdrs have an HE firepower of "5". Determine their fate on the Defense/Firepower table - their inherent defense is "2". Consult the unit tables for the truck and the AT Gun then check the The tank is considered hit by "plummeting " fire. Roll one die. Even - the tank is immobilized. If Odd, it is considered a deck hit. A 25 pdr (HE) can penetrate 17mm. If the tank's deck is 17mm or less, scratch one tank. A bit of a bother, I know. But artillery (rockets) can be very effective, especially in the V-2 game, and is worth the time it takes to resolve it.
