THE LEFT SIDE	THE RIGHT SIDE
Connected to the right side of the body, and the right side of each eye's vision.	Connected to the left side of the body, and the left side of each eye's vision.
Deals with imputs one at a time.	Demands ready integrationof many inputs at once.
Processes information in a lineal and sequential mode of operation.	Processes information more diffusely. Has a nonlineal and simultaneous mode of operation.
Deals with time. Responsible for the faculty of verbal expression, or language.	Deals with space. Responsible for gestures, facial and body movements (or) "Body Language".. tone of voice, etc.
Responsible for verbal and mathematical functions.	Responsible for spatial and relational functions; awareness of our bodies; for sports and dancing; our orientation in space; recognition of faces; artistic endeavor; musical ability and recognition of pitch.
Specializes in memory and recognition of words or numbers.	Specializes in memory and recognition of objects, or persons, places, and music etc.
Normally tends to specialize in logic and analytical reasoning or thinking.	Normally specializes in intuition and holistic perception or thinking.
The seat of reason.	The seat of passion and of dreams.
The crucial side of the brain for wordsmiths, mathematicians and scientists.	The crucial side of the brain for artists, craftspeople, musicians.

NOTE: It is the right side of the brain, that tends to be neglected, beginning when as children we were encouraged to focus on the three R's, later as teen-agers when we were admonished to stop daydreaming, still later as young adults when everything that seemed important to us required developing our left-brain talents.

But while we strengthened and nurtured our intellects, we weakened and all but forgot about the intuitive and spontaneous side of ourselves. Although it continued to function, we became insensitive to it.

Fortunately, some people never lost touch with this part of themselves; among them are those who give us the art and poetry that embellish our lives.
