Eri of the Golden Hair
A goddess of the Tuatha de Danaan, the magical divinities of early Ireland, Eri found a lover in an unusual way. She was a virgin until the day a silver boat traveling in the path of the sun arrived; it contained a man, shining like his boat, with whom Eri made love almost immediately.
Unfortunately, the visitor stayed on shore only long enough to impregnate Eri with the beautiful god Bres, then left to return to his own people, leaving only a golden ring with the goddess as a token of his stay, and of his love for her. From that day forward, the people of Ireland used a golden ring as a symbol of love, faith and betrothal, in honor of the beautiful goddess and her shining love.
