Numerology, or the metaphysical study of numbers, has been a part of most of the world's religious and divinatory systems. It is generally used in two manners, birthdate/name horoscopes and divination. There are many different methods of determining and interpreting the esoteric meaning of numbers, of course, but the quick descriptions below are those most prevalently used today.
Horary Numerology (birthdate/name horoscopes) recognizes the numbers 1 through 9 - double digits are added together and reduced to form a number within this range; i.e., 11 becomes 1+1=2. Divinatory Numerology (forecasting, fortunetelling) recognizes the numbers 1 through 9, 11 and 12; 10 is considered to be 1 (1+0=1).
The Birth Number
The birth number is arrived at by adding the digits of the birth date and reducing them to a single digit. For example, the birth date of November 19, 1965 is reduced as follows:
The Name Number
The name number is arrived at by adding the numerical value of the letters in a name, also using the range of 1 though 9, and reducing them to a single digit. The numerical values of the english alphabet are as follows:

Numerological Horoscopes
Over time, certain planetary bodies and personality traits have been associated with the birth and/or name numbers. The following is a short description of these traits.
The number ONE is ruled by the Sun. It denotes someone with a driving life force; a leader; ambitious; an extrovert; impatient; an explorer; in command; frequently a 'big brother' or 'big sister'; very strong feelings for or against; would not knowingly hurt someone but may not know their own strength; can stand being praised and is entitled to it.
Numerology provides a very easy and affordable method of divination. Any group of objects numbered 1 through 9, 11 and 12 can be used, but the easiest to obtain and use are a pair of dice. The only other requirements are a flat throwing surface, something that can be used to define a 6 inch X 6 inch square or a 6 inch diameter circle, and maintaining a strong degree of concentration on the question at hand.
To divine the answer to a question, sit comfortably at a table or on the floor, hold and roll the dice in your hands while concentrating on the question or situation, and, when ready, gently toss the dice onto the table or floor, holding your hands above your 6 inch defined square or circle.
If both dice fall within the defined space, the numbers on their faces are read and interpreted as a whole number. If only one die falls within this space, only the number on it's face is read and interpreted. The numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, and 12 are read as themselves; the number 10 is read as 1 (1+0 = 1). The generally accepted interpretations of the numerical values are as follows:
Beginnings, ideas, invention, originality, independence, will.
Waiting, sharing, patience, cooperation, diplomacy, receptivity, doing things twice.
Expressing, corresponding, scattering, creating, entertaining, fruition, fertility.
Application, organization, working, building on the material plane.
Unexpected changes (lucky or unlucky), freedom, promotion, excess.
Adjustments, responsibility, family, health, love or hate, marriage or divorce, serendipity.
Perfecting, introspection, aloneness, faith, things that come unexpectedly or after long delay.
Power, success, recognition, business, money, physical things, emotionalism, enlargement.
Universality, magnetism, foreign travel, dissipation, completion.
Revelation, receptivity, intuition, fame, spirituality, teaching, zealousness.
Higher application, mastery of the material and/or spiritual, power on all planes, goals attained.
