Let me start this page with a simple declaration:
When and how did this become a truth in my life?
This is what I am about to explain you.
I was fifteen when I understood in my heart that Jesus was my friend. I used to attend to a baptist church in my hometown in Mexico, because my parents and my family did. Every Sunday I heard the Word of God preached by Pastor Gomez, that was atractive and powerful in his lips. For me, however, those facts were far away from me. I rather was a lonely boy, with just a few friends. I felt rejected by the young people of my age, because I had been labelled as gay since the primary school by some of my fellow students. What then had the Word of God to tell me? I thouhgt: nothing. In that situation, on December, 1972, I was invited to attend to a christian week in a camp, organised by a group of young people rescued from the drugs by the Lord Jesus Christ. When I met them and saw their authentic christianity so different from the one I had observed on some people that attended to the church every sunday, I thought: "these guys must have something very alive inside them." One day, during this week, the leader of the group asked us to have a time alone with the Lord Jesus Christ. Though I did not clearly understand what was this about, I went into the forest in the camp place with my Bible, and sat down at the shadow of a big tree. As I was reading the gospel of John, something like a light shone in my mind, and I started to undestand that I was the one loved by the Father. The words: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16) started to have sense for me: the one loved in such a great manner was me (Thank you Lord because you loved me and you love me in such a way!). Step by step I was learning that Jesus was a real friend, and that I could count on him because after he died for me in the cross, he raised up to life again and then he was alive.
Comunidad Cristiana de Mexico (Christian Community of Mexico), in this church, since the first meeting I and my wife attended, a prophetic word was given to us.
Today I know that Jesus has called me and all his followers to
be the salt and the light of this world. For this purpose, He has equipped us with his power through the Holy Spirit. The task He has entrusted to us requires from us both
faith and love.
