Canyon Exploration
You are about to set out on the
biggest adventure of your life! You will be exploring the Grand Canyon
over the next nine weeks. During the next nine weeks, you will learn
about habitats, plants, animals, maps, and history. Each week you
will do new activities and learn new things. So get your brain and
imaginations ready because

WEEK
1
The Grand Canyon is a beautiful
place in Arizona. Look here
to
see where Arizona is. In class you will look at pictures and photos
of the Grand Canyon.

to watch a movie about deserts. Pay attention to what a desert is,
what animals live there, and what plants live there. When you are
finished, print out the activity page and complete it. Put it in
your Grand Canyon Journal.
WEEK 2

2 desert animals and draw a picture of each in your journal. Underneath
the picture write 3 facts in good sentences about each animal.
In class we will also be reading
our science books to learn about the types of animals and what a omnivore,
carnivore, and herbivore is.
WEEK 3
Many types of plants live in
the desert and the Grand Canyon.

and tell me one fact about each and write this in your journal . Cut out
3 pictures from the magazines and glue them in your journal.

WEEK 4
The Grand Canyon is one of the
most amazing land forms in the world. As a class we will be taking a quiz
to see how much we know about different land forms.

paper, crayons, markers, and other art supplies. Click here

WEEK 5
In order for people to explore
the Grand Canyon, they had to know how to read a map. There are many
types of maps that you will learn about.
