ISOBARB at work The history of the names by which the Karass group knows its members is arcane. The first historical reference to ISOBARB is a saying dating from 1022 AD: "Even the King must shed light on his subjects to take their picture."

There is some doubt as to the accuracy of the date, since cameras were not invented until the mid 1800s, and ISOBARB used other names prior to the late 20th century, but factual detail is not a hallmark of the karass history page.

Cuppa
The shadowy figure known only as XX came to be called that because of his interesting heritage.

Speaking of heritage, AIM is known by many names to the Karass, and was instrumental in its founding.

ISTOHOW's name was assigned by AIRWUG1 and ISOBARB, and except for AIRWUG1's comment that it seemed appropriate somehow, there is absolutely nothing unique about it...

Children of the Karass

Beth and Dan

Children (not the cute ones shown above) were admitted to the Karass at about age 4. There were several reasons for this. By this time:
  1. they were capable of carrying on a discussion in a language understandable to other members of the Karass
  2. they were mobile enough to represent a danger to the Isobarbary or its contents
  3. they were mobile enough to have the Isobarbary represent a danger to them
  4. they should only be allowed to terrorize the neighbors under adult supervision
Why should the kids have all the fun? If anybody was going to terrorize the neighborhood it was going to be the adult members of the Karass...
There was no need to assign nicknames for the kids, because it was always clear from the tone of voice (especially a Mother's voice) and the kid's own conscience that even though multiple people had that name only one Karassian was being addressed...

Cine-Paul has had to work hard to come up with his nickname, since nobody provided one for him.
