Conover.
Daniel Conover
Daniel Conover, 40, is a features writer at
The (Charleston) Post and Courier, where he spent almost 10 years as an editor. He is a two-time winner of the Phobos Award for science fiction.
A 1990 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill School of Journalism, Conover previously worked for The Chapel Hill Newspaper, The (Waynesville, N.C.)
Mountaineer and The Shelby Star. He spent four years in the Army as a tanker and cavalry scout, rising to the rank of sergeant. During his two years in Germany, Conover was fortunate to be assigned to Charlie Troop, 1st Squadron, 2d Armored Cavalry, which afforded him the experience of patroling the East German and Czech borders from 1985-87.
Conover is married to writer/artist/designer Janet Edens. He has a 13-year-old son, Luke Owen Conover, from a previous marriage, and three step-children: David Hartsell, 15; Lee Hartsell, 13; and Callie Hartsell, 8. They live in peninsular Charleston.
Conover was born in Chicago, Ill., in 1963 and grew up in
Greensboro and Brown's Summit, N.C., before attending Appalachian
State University in Boone, N.C., from 1981-1983.
