If you have never been to Israel you may not have heard of
the Shephelah (or even if you have!) It is the western foothills of Judah
that provided an important buffer to the hill country throughout Judah's
history. This day was spent exploring the various valleys, tells and caves
of the Shephelah.

Beth Shemesh with the hometown of Samson behind them. |

Sunni takes good notes, even drawing out
various things at the sites. |

Give the girls hardhats and they all want
their picture taken. This is in the Bell Caves of Beth
Guvrin. |

Of course the guys had to get one themselves. |

The acoustics in the caves were very
good. Philip led us in rounds of "Father, I Adore You." |

The Sidonian Cave at Bet Guvrin was used in the tomb scene
of the movie "Jesus." Students though will be
quick to tell you about the other movie filmed at Bet Guvrin. |
