About the Author of this Page...
I am Joseph Price, Assistant Professor of French and Applied Linguistics at Texas Tech University. I earned my Ph.D in French Linguistics at Indiana University in 2007. I have had a long background as a teacher and a learner of language: four years of high school French, a B.A. in French from the University of Maine (1990), a Master of Arts in Teaching French from the same university (1993), a year as a student at the Université d'Angers in France (1991-1992), and an M.A. in Linguistics from the University of South Carolina (1998). I have also had much experience teaching: a year as a Graduate Assistant in French at the University of Maine (1992-1993), a year as a instructor of French at the University of Maine at Farmington (1994-1995), a semester student teaching (Mount Desert Island High School, Bar Harbor, Maine, 1994), a year teaching high school (Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, South Paris, Maine 1995-1996), two years as an instructor of English Composition at the University of South Carolina (1996-1998), and extensive experience teaching and coordinating elementary courses at the university level at Indiana University (1998-2005). I also held the position of Director of Basic Language Instruction at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 2005 to 2007.
Teachers are learners, and I created this website to explore my own interest in the history of the French language, as well as to share it.
