Greetings friends, Order members, and well enemies,
This letter was forwarded to me, and I'm posting it with permission from the original sender. :) Although I'm not a pagan, or a wiccan, I find the content in this letter to be very relevent to all people, of all religions.

I realize that this is a strange list that I am mailing to. One might wonder as to why I am bothering to send mail to some of you. But I found that I needed to. Many of us have dreamed in our lives, some of us are still dreaming and have the hopes that at some point we will achieve our dreams. On to the body of this letter.
Each of us at some part in our lives have come across people that do not understand us. We have run into the prejudisms from people who automatically assume that to be pagan is to be a baby sacrificing, satan worshipping, person without morals. We know that this is not true.
Inside each of us is a heart and our morals and our beliefs are strong and true. When we wake up in the morning we are faced with a decision.
Many of us have had to hide our true paths from others. Be it from our co-workers who could never accept it, thus our faith costing us our jobs.
Be it from the community that we live in, for fear that if they knew we would be attacked. Some of us even have to hide who we really are from our families, a difficult and painful thing to have to do.
Why do these prejudisms exist? Why can society not fully accept paganism?
Difficult questions to ask oneself. I think that some of this is ingrained. We were taught by our parents and they by theirs how wrong witchcraft is and how they steal children and sell their souls. We know that this is false. Some of us have not heard this from our parents. But we have indeed heard it from at least some of our elders. Be they ministers, or store owners, or neighbours. These thoughts have been implanted in everyone's mind.
So that answers why these prejudisms exist and it can be simplified into a single poignant word: ignorance. In fact that same word answers the second question as well. Now why is there this ignorance? It is because we do not speak out as to what we are. The pagans of the world should go forth and tell people what their faith is. Then and only then will society slowly come to understand that we are not evil, that we are people and that we are the same as any of them. We have our dreams, our hopes, and our fears.
My dream is that we could all do this together. That we need no longer fight amongst ourselves, for no better reason then amusement or mayhaps prejudisms of our own. I refuse to believe that we are too small to move past that. If we are then what is the use of waking up in the morning?
We are all different, that is a given, but the similarities that exist between all people on this planet are more powerful than any difference ever could be.
So this is my dream... I doubt that everyone on this list will read this mail, and I further doubt that everyone will take it seriously or bother thinking about it. But I still hope that you do! With only some of us speaking out against the hate that exists, change will be slow and difficult to achieve. But if all spoke out change will come more quickly.
If we all tried in our own way to see the good in all people be they Pagan, Xtian, Hindu, etc. then mayhaps we will reach a time where no one is beaten for what they believe. Where no one is burned and no wars are fought just over a small difference between people.
The next time that you watch a sunset or some event makes you smile think to yourself of this. We all are human and we all can love, and enjoy the simple things in life. I pray that mayhaps we can reach a time of acceptance.
Thank you all and may the Creator shelter you,
Reverend Weaver Dominicus Matus, 1st of the Corvus Order
