Freedom

by David MacDonald

Staring into the ocean
As deep as her intense eyes
 Admiring its seeming eternity

Her presence seems
 to blend with her surroundings
 Forming a unique beauty

Her lips reveal a small
 But genuine smile
A smile of peace within her

Her mind is relaxed
 Her young body
 feels tense no longer

Somehow being here
 makes her troubles vanish
 and makes her forget
 the loneliness felt inside
 All she needs to feel
is the cold water on the skin
 And, for a little while
A small piece of freedom in her life 1
