BE PROMPT:
When you arrive for class, be in your seat when the bell rings. This is according to LTHS classroom expectations. You have one free tardy per semester. On your second and subsequent tardies, detentions will be assigned.BE COURTEOUS:
When I, or someone else, is talking be courteous and LISTEN. Talking out of turn will result in points being deducted from your overall semester total. The first action is a warning. 5 points for the second infraction, 10 for the third, 20 for the fourth etc... You will be dismissed by the teacher, not by the bell. I reserve the right to detain the whole class if all students are not in their own seats when the bell rings. I and the teachers who share this room with me like to keep it clean -- help to keep it that way. Please pick up waste paper and deposit it in the paper recycling bin. Other waste will be thrown in the waste can. Food (candy, sandwiches, drinks, etc...) , gum, and drinks do not belong in class. Keep them in the cafeteria. Violations of this will result in points being deducted from your quarter grade and/or a referral to the deans. ( see # 2 above ) When you are absent you are responsible for the work you missed. See me on the day of your return to arrange to make up the work. It is your responsibility to make arrangements to make up work.BE PREPARED:
1. When you arrive have paper, pencil / pen, books, and assignment if needed.
2. Have your assignments completed BEFORE you arrive in class. If I see you working on the assignment at the beginning of the period or copying an assignment at any time, all involved will receive 0's for the first offense. On subsequent offenses all involved will receive a failing grade for the quarter. Giving or receiving aid of any type on homework, quizzes, papers, or tests is Cheating and will result in the above consequences being implemented. Consider this your warning.
3. Forgetting assignments or materials in your locker or at home or losing them will result in a 0 for that assignment. You are in high school now and are expected to act like responsible people. Please remember your assignments. Absolutely no late assignments will be accepted!!
4. All other LTHS Policies and expectations apply in this class. If you are violating school rules, you will be sent to the Dean's office, and they will handle the situation according to school policy.
5. I will call home if I feel there is a need to do so. (Good or Bad)
6. I will not give passes out of class unless there is an extreme emergency. Having to go to the washroom real bad does not constitute an emergency.
My standard Grading Scale is as follows: A=90-100%, B=80-89%, C=70-79%, D=60-69%, and below a 60% is a failing score. Your percentages are calculated by dividing the number of points you have earned (Assignments+Tests+Quizzes) by the total possible points to that date. I do give periodic grade updates AT MY DISCRETION, NOT YOURS. It is mandatory that you keep track of your own grades on the forms included in your Porter Planner. I will check to see that you are using your Porter Planner from time to time and this will be a 10 point assignment each time I check. The above grading scale is used only as a guideline for grades. I reserve the right to deviate from this scale in an upward direction only. You will never receive a lower grade than is indicated by the scale ( Unless you are caught cheating ).
I am available for assistance in my office (Room 77) or Classroom ( T-8 ) almost every morning at approximately 7:00 AM (Please let me know if you intend to come in). If this time is inconvenient for you please let me know and we can make alternate arrangements. I am here to help you learn -- please let me.
In addition, If you need to contact me here at school, the phone number is (815) 834-4487. You can also contact me at my E-mail address ejcallis@megsinet.net which I try to check at about 9:00 P.M. If you need homework help, this is a good place to try and reach me at night. I do not guarantee an instant response, and not reaching me is not an excuse to not have your homework finished.
