My parent's anniversary.
Today is my parents' anniversary, probably the 44th. That means they were married in the late 1950s. Images flash through my mind of a young lady with milky-white skin, and a Jackie Kennedy hairdo. A young man, wearing jeans, a dark-green long-sleeved corduroy shirt, and a stetson hat drives his jeep to her office. My mother was my father's employee.
When news came to my grandmother that my parents were in love, she immediately had my mother (or was it my father?) transferred to another position somewhere else. But my parents woudn't let this get in the way. They decided to get married immediately.
Fourty-four years later, this couple has gone through many crises. They are leaders of their community and church, and respected by hundreds of friends, family and people of La Ceiba.
