All is not as it may seem. Seldom is it so. To look, no one would believe how fragile my heart can be. How little of the truth we perceive with our eyes alone. How pure the heart, and how tender. How easily bruised and torn. How much damage can be done with a laugh or word of scorn.
Tread gently upon the lives of others. Leave only impressions upon their souls; never scars. Take tears as a sign of humanity, not weakness. If you cannot love their deeds, at least respect their pain. For what we give, so do we receive in the end. Your disbelief changes nothing. The universe needs not your blessing to be as it is. We are connected, one and all. So it has been, and shall ever be. Give of your peace to the distraught. Feed the hungry. Cry for the ignorant. They are you, before knowing came. Have patience with yourself and forgiveness. It is easy to cry for the children. Who cries for the rest? Are we all not children inside? Love is never wasted. Can one person really make a difference? Jesus of Nazareth, and Adolph Hitler. Opposite sides of the coin, yes. Yet both are perfect examples of just how much one person can change the lives of many. Love is not a prison. It is the key to freedom. It is not a loss of individuality; but the fulfillment of who we are. It is not a tool to get what you want. It is an end unto itself. Nothing else comes close to it. There is no replacement for it. The only way to find it is to give it away. Let us love while there is yet time. © 1999 by D. Ron Mack Written 4/5/1999 |
