What is Music?

The ocean, which resides on the border of all the land, is as old as the highest mountains. It is endless, and always the same. It beats the shore with waves, it struggles with the wind. We are like it, becaus we came from the great ocean. And here is how it happened.
The ocean was beating on the rocks, like a heart, with it's waves. Tam-tum. Waves went up, and down. This is the way it was since the beginning of time.
But then, one of the waves, instead of going back into the ocean, stayed on shore and walked forward. It was the great mother of all. The birds, the reindeer, and any animals you have ever seen, she has borne. She is the great Mother of Life. And because she came from the waves, we have a part of her in us. It is our heart. Like a wave, it always beats : tam-tum. But not every part of a body beats all the time. Our spirit beats only when we feel longing for the ocean, from which we came. When that happens, we write music...
Music is like the ocean. It has a rhythm: up,down, tam,tum. But it is also like the great mother, like us, because it is forever changing. The great mother of all decided to walk forward out of the waves. Life has a rhythm, as a wave does, but you are more than a wave only because you can decide what to do, and change. One straight road is meaningless, because it is endless. It has no scale. As long as you walk down only one road, there is eternity behind of you, and in front of you. A wave goes forward until it dies, or until the wind moves it to the side. So to be more than a wave, you must always look for new roads. You are no more than a wave if you cannot choose where to go, and choose how to change.
And you must never stop, because a wave that stops dissapears into the great ocean without a trace. If you halt, it should only be to listen to music, which is the essence of life itself. Music brings you closer to the great ocean, and to the beginning of life. It gives you the power to walk, and to learn from walking. And to have a life that is not meaningless, like a straight line, you must have change. Music is forever changing. Because of that, life is like music. Because of that, we love music, and for some, music is life.
This is the way music was explained in our first tales. and it is the way it should be said, even after my time is long gone.
