Welcome to the
Home Page of the Akron Alumnae Chapter of Delta
Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Delta is a Public Service Sorority founded in 1913
on the Campus of Howard University in Washington, D. C. Since the time of the chartering of the Akron Alumnae Chapter, March 4, 1960, we have been actively involved in numerous community activities. We have programs ongoing in all five major thrusts of the Sorority - Educational Development, Economic Development, International Awareness, Physical/Mental Health, and Political Awareness and Involvement. We also have active Commissions on Arts and Letters and Social Action. Our Delta Academy is one to be very proud of, boasting 20 young ladies between the ages of eleven and fourteen who meet weekly. I am proud to say that we have more than 121 financial members in our local Chapter. We work diligently with other organizations to present other quality programs to the community. It is our hope that you will explore further the many activities of the Akron Alumnae Chapter. Deborah A. Grimes
