Freedom and Reform Links

I am thankful to live in the U.S., for it is a democracy where individual freedom is cherished, and diversity flourishes. However, our freedoms must be safeguarded, and a democracy is only functional as long as individuals are willing to speak up and make their voices heard. So I have chosen to present a few of my favorite FREEDOM links here, in the public interest. If you have a favorite you would like to see added to this list, please email me and let me know, and I'll take a look at it. If I like it, you may soon see it here as well. *S*

The Freedom Forum
This is quite a comprehensive site, containing a lot of reference information and links. If you are interested in any reform movement, I urge you to check this site out!

The Center for Missing and Exploited Children
Call 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678)
if you have information about any of these children

The Libertarian Party
Are you a Libertarian? Take the quiz and find out!

Feminists for Free Expression
It's what the name says. A group of women who don't want the government interfering with what they can say, read, or perform. Check it out!

NORML
Yes, they're still around! I don't smoke pot because, er, well, it's ILLEGAL! And I don't feel like having my house taken away from me, or my children for that matter. In my humble opinion, what we Americans have isn't a DRUG problem, it's a RESPONSIBILITY problem. The laws currently on the books and the "War on Drugs" haven't done anything to improve the situation, and the punishments in many cases have far outweighed the crimes. I'm not sure if the situation we have today with thousands of people being incarcerated for marijuana use is any better or worse than the situation would be if it were legal to grow your own for personal use. But I'd like to see that latter scenario given a chance.

Light a Candle in the Darkness If you have any questions about AIDS, you can probably find a link to the answer here. You may also light a candle honoring someone stricken with this disease.

FBI HQ Freedom of Information Act Reading Room
They say you need Adobe Acrobat or something similar to read this stuff, but it's nice to know there is access.

Wren's Nest
News and current events of interest to the Pagan community. I check this site at least once a week.

The American Civil Liberties Union
The granddaddy of them all. I'm pretty sure if you live in the US and know anything about any legal controversies, you've heard of them. This is another very comprehensive site, and worth a visit.

The Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance
This is an educational site, with descriptions and information on just about every religion known. If you're curious about the practices of a faith other than your own, and don't actually know someone who is involved in it, this is the next best place to get information.

Take a stand against religious persecution.
