AAAA MIDWEST CHAPTER MEETING, Susan Sanares-Tan
ITASCA, ILLINOIS, August 23, 1997-- Seven old girls living in and around the Chicago area met at the house of Dahlia Suzara-Estacio to discuss the formation of the Assumption Alumnae Association Abroad (AAAA)-Midwest Chapter. The girls enjoyed stories and merienda of pancit, special empanada, Assumption Pie, fried fish delicacy, tahong, lumpia and some Chinese dishes. Each one contributed recollections and secrets with students at Assumption Herran, San Lorenzo, Antipolo and Iloilo. Then a set of temporary officers was elected for purposes of incorporation. A second meeting was scheduled for Nov. 22, at the residence of Frida Robles-Evangelista, Schaumburg, IL. The group planned to invite one Assumption sister to talk about the centennial celebration of Mother Foundress and projects of the Mo. Marie Eugenie (MME) Institute. Spouses were also invited. Other topics the girls wanted to discuss are: the role of alumnae in charitable projects; attendance at the forthcoming 1999 grand reunion in Vancouver; plans for fundraising; and, bidding for the 2002 tri-annual Assumption Alumnae Reunion in Chicago. Also, elections will be held during this meeting. Any old girl present may be nominated for the positions of President, 1st VP, 2nd VP, Secretary and Treasurer. The Alumnae hoped to see old girls from the Midwestern and Southern states of Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Missouri.
