Fact or Fiction?


Fiction: Witches hold Sabbats on nights of the full moon so they can worship the devil.
Fact: Witches do hold Sabbats, but not always on the full moon, and never to worship the devil.

Fiction: Witches worship and serve the devil.
Fact: Witches don't even believe that there is a devil.

Fiction: Witches have familiars, or animals assigned to them to help them carry out evil deeds.
Fact: Witches don't do anything evil, so their animals are just pets.

Fiction: Witches cast evil spells on people, crops, and livestock.
Fact: Witches do cast spells, but they are to help.

Fiction: Witches ride on brooms.
Fact: Witches only jump over brooms during crop growing ceremonies (and they sweep with them too).

Fiction: The pentacle stands for a goat or devil head.
Fact: The pentacle stands for the five elements - earth, air, fire, and water.

Fiction: Witches offer human and animal sacrifices to the devil.
Fact: It goes against all that Witches stand for to kill animals or humans.
