Welcome to Carl's book corner.
Here you could well find discussions on the latest web page or hard to find used
bookstore tomes. I suspect a lot of them will come off my own
bookshelves. Well hey they are my favorites, else I would have
traded them in long ago. But hey if you have something I really
really should read drop me an email, maybe even a review. I will
certainly consider it and most assuredly give you credit for your work. If you submit please include as much background as you can. Enjoy.

Title: Frozen Star
Author: George Greenstein
Published by Freundlich Books, copyright 1983
I won't say this is a book for the layman, but Frozen
Star is a well piece of non-fiction about - yeah you guessed it - astronomy
and stars. Greenstein takes the reader on a wonderful journey of
science exploration from the first hints of Pulsars through the mounting pile of
evidence for Black Holes. A gifted writer, this man, I felt I was
reading a mystery novel rather than a science treatise on a subject as dry as a
math equation. And just when you thought the man has covered
everything he explains how black holes have been with us all along in fables,
mythology and literature as powerful whirlpools drawing sailors to their
death. And speaking of mythological characters - Stephen Hawking
is there too.
My advice - hunt through your favorite used book
store. If they don't have it, keep looking. You
won't regret the effort.
