"But for Some Paper" written April 11, 1998
If I had a pen (and some paper too),
Table to write on with four sturdy legs,
I'd write a small sonnet for only you.
This little thing would pull me from the dregs.
A chance to remember a simple small smile,
The look of your hair, the sound of your voice.
These all would brighten my day for a while,
And leave me to think only on the choice
Of my words in this non-work of prose.
The rhyme scheming pattern of many lines
Which talk of your figure, your straight linéd nose.
Throughout all of these the theme intertwines.
Ohh to enscribe my thoughts on this wood,
But for some paper, I'd do if I could.

Analysis: I know I told you to find your own meaning, but this poem needs some attention. It is one of my favorite poems that had some meaning in mind when written. In other words, I had a purpose. I mention all these groovy characteristics about this girl. I say all these things and mention the significance of the pattern yet I still have nothing that could come close to all there is to say about her. This special lady has so much, I just wish I had enough paper to express these qualities on.
