"Someone's Treasure" written June 5, 1998
The anvil toppéd thunder clouds hunger for release
As the smooth and flowing stratosphere looks down
Upon a flowing flock of thin canadian geese.
These sights, uncommon in this world, move beyond control.
Pleasing sights that please the soul, invert a frown
and fill a void, and fill a void, and fill this hole.
I look and see these sights so strange.
I wonder where they came from.
The herd of bison on the open range
Is now a freeway path from above
Like so many insects and their hum.
I look in, to the darkness, the hurt, I want to shove.
The spider's bite is deadly to all foes
Like the snake's venom is final to hated enemies
Causing a deformation of the face, nothing to those he Knows.
A bad habit conquered gives twice the enjoyment.
Like a pretty case of awards full of trophies
Gives the jealous competitor purest torment.
Someone's trash is another treasure.
Some little thing may be a great thing.
You cannot judge by any measure
What a value is made out to be.
What some may raise a voice to sing
And praise, may be worthless to me.
