BESTY 8th - 12th grade

In November, the BESTY BOARD participated in a creative family service commemorating NFTY, the experiences of campers who have attended Camp Swig and the installation of the 2000-2001 BESTY BOARD. Also In November Bestyites participated in out first event of the year, BESTY Pot-Luck Havdallah welcoming our new members. Derek Gormin BESTY VP and Songleader, put together an amazing service bringing the significance of Havdallah closer to the hearts of everyone involved. The event was hosted by the Dull Family, many thanks to Susan Dull for all your hard work and the use of your beautiful home! In late November, Bestyites and Temple Bat Yahm Senior Youth Group attended the Hollywood Temple Youth annual Sleepless in Hollywood event, an all night event attracting well over a 100 Jewish teens from all over SoCal. The event hosted by Temple Isiah of Hollywood was a blast as the teens participated in several activities such as Wallyball, late night Disco Bowling and Havdallah under the stars. In December Bestyites attended NFTY Nashim, a unique female inclusive event and Gevarim, a unique male inclusive event, both which have received national attention. Each event was held at separate camps in Malibu and related to gender issues in today’s society. In December Bestyites also attended the OCTY(Orange County Temple Youth, Temple Beth Sholom) Annual all night Broomball and Laser tag event bringing a fantastic turnout of Jewish teens from all over Orange County!

In order to attend NFTY events you must be in grades 9-12 and pay NFTY/ BESTY Dues prior to the NFTY event. BESTY Dues are $36 annually and go towards NFTY DUES, MAILINGS and scholarship.
