I just finished reading The Magic Circle which is my second favorite book by Ms. Neville. It was complicated, thrilling and edifying. The scholarship is outstanding. TMC is a brave book, giving new avenues for the mind to explore. The Historical refereces and how they are all connected is very meaty stuff. I gave it 5 stars on Amazon.com. The Eight is my favorite and when Caluculated Risk came out, I read it in 2 hours and then had to wait YEARS for the next Neville!!

After finding the Magic Circle in, of all places, a grocery store, I found that the book I'd bought because it "sounded intriguing" was brilliant! It had a great "quest story", & strong characterization combined with the type of historical mysteries that
ave interested me since I was about ten years old. i'm going to make a point of finding The Eight and Calculated Risk next trip to a real bookstore!

I absolutely love the way Katherine Neville writes. I have always wanted to be an author, and those are the types of books I'd like to write, even though I probably wouldn't have enough patients to read the info. for it, and have never been to Algeria. K
DOS!

The books to date makes one think about the nature of reality and the problrm of morality. Are these things to be viewed as absolutes or is there a degree of relativity?

The magic circle is the first katherine neville book i'v read. Well that's not true. I'm still reading it. I'm (almost exactly) half way through and loving it!!!

Just finished "The Magic Circle" and I really enjoyed it. This was the first novel of hers that I have read but I am just about to read "The Eight".

Your website is awesome! It's so extensive and fulfills a purpose that I'm sure anyone who has read any of Neville's books has: to find out more about the author and the incredible research that went into her novels.

Your site is great! I've found tons of infos I've been seekin' for years!
Keep on doin' that!!!

I read all of Katherine's books, great writer

I just hope that Katherine keeps writing more books like The Eight. I was a little disappointed in the weakness of Verity Banks in "A Calculated Risk" but thought the book was better than average. I have just started to read "The Magic Circle" though I bought the Hard Cover I waited for the paperback for reading purposes. I am enthralled and sorry I had to wait. Next time two hard covers. One for permanent library status and one just for reading.

I like all the in-depth information you provide about "The Eight" (which is a terrific book) on this page. It is what originally led me here. However, one comment I would like to make is the way you seem to treat Katherine Neville like a god who can't stand criticism, especially in regards to the revews with "The Magic Circle". Few authors are perfect with each book, and quite frankly, most of the reviews of her new book are
not good because it's a really flat, predictable book. I don't think it helps Ms. Neville to protect her from this either, unless you want her to churn out more garbage. For myself, I am hoping that this is merely a
glitch in her career and not a trend.

This is the 1st book I've read by K. Neville -
the Magic Circle. Its an amazing book. I could almost feel little areas of my brain popping open while I was reading. At the time I read it, I
was struggling with some personal and career
decisions, and by the end of the book I gained an
amazing clarity. A WONDERFUL book - I'm certainly
going to read everything else by her.

As a history major, I appreciate the tapestry of fiction and historical fact woven by KNeville in "The Eight". I must say that although "Magic Circle" was absolutely enthralling, the references to Christ and his role leans toward the contraversial. I ca
't wait for her next book to come out! (although reading her others over and over again are a pleasant way to pass the time)
Comments:
I'm in awe of the scope of Neville's writing and imagination. And besides, her books are fun to read.
You've asked for favorite books, authors, that is impossible, too many. However, I suggest "Pillars of the Earth," by Ken Follett, great book. I also liked "The Color of Light," by William Goldman. Tons of Science fiction, etc.
By the way, nice website...

Just finished The Eight for the umpeenth time. I can read it over and over and still find a new level each time! In my opinion it is the best of her books, and I'm thrilled there will be a sequel! :))

I have never read anything quite like, or for that matter anything like, "The Eight", and it has become one of my favourite books. I think the fact that Neville managed to write a book all about chess, but which could be understood by one who is less than
a novice at the game, is amazing. I loved the plot, I loved the characters (most of them, anyway), actually, I'm pretty sure I loved everything about it. It was great!

I think it is great to see an author that can combine historical and contemporary settings and be able to to tie it in as well as she can. A truly magnificent author. Hello Alwynn!!

I met Katherine Neville about six months ago and wanted to get to know her better by reading one of her books. I chose The Eight and was in for a delightful surprise! After having neglected recreational reading for several years (after having children),
I was reminded how much I enjoy the escape. And Katherine's book was excellent!

The Eight is an amazing work of fiction that blended the worlds of history, fantasy, romance and adventure into a very exciting novel. The problem Ms. Neville now has is that new book she writes will always be compared to this masterpiece. I look forwar
to her next book on painters and the Renaissance period, AS WELL as her Eight sequel. I also want to write the screenplay to The Eight, but after meeting Ms. Neville at a book signing, that seems like a longshot (it seems that she is overwhelmed with of
ers!).
