Tommy doesn't understand why his grandmother must stay in a nursing home. His parents have tried to explain to him that his grandmother had a stroke, and is now unable to take care of herself. One day his mother announces that they are going to visit his grandmother. Tommy rushes down the street, to his grandmother's old home. He remembers the good times he had with her here. He remembers the good times she had here. Finally he spots what he was looking for, he retrieves it and heads to the nursing home with his mother. Concealing the gift in a bag, he hands it to his elderly grandmother. She peeks inside to see a beautiful red geranium plant. It was a plant from her home. She is overjoyed to recieve this beautiful plant from her grandson. As she watches her family leave from her window, she realizes just home remarkle the plant is. The drab room has now become a little more comforting. It seems more cozy now that it contains a piece from her home and former life.
This story was sad, but I felt it was nice. Although the story was not very long, it still contained many emotions. The storyline was priceless. Janette Oke told a beautiful story of love in a few short pages. If you want to pick up a quick book to read, I recommend this one. It might make you think about the important things in your life.
