SEMINARY STAFF
AND THEIR FUNCTIONS

The Rector
The Rector as chief administrative officer, is ultimately responsible for all aspects of seminary life.More than the other members of the faculty, he influences the direction and tone of the seminaryprogram. By creating a climate of mutual confidence and trust he will elicit the full cooperation of faculty and students.
Because of the scope and complexities of the seminary program, the Rector will shasre definite responsibilities with the other members of the faculty, observing principles of collegiality and subsidiarity.

The Vice-Rector
The Vice-Rector, who may be holding another office in the seminary, takes over the functions of the Rector when the latter is absent or incapacitated.

The Spiritual Director
The Spiritual Director will serve as coordinator who, in cooperation with the faculty and other spiritual directors (if any), will give unity and direction to the program of spiritual development of the community. This program will consist of e.g., spiritual exercises, liturgical life, conferences, retreats, recollections, personal interviews, etc.
Although the Spiritual Director coordinates the program of spiritual development, every faculty member bears the responsibility for the total formation of the seminarians. Other priests in the seminary should not limit themselves to "non-spiritual" tasks, but should also cooperate in the seminarians' spiritual formation.

The Dean of Students
The Dean of Students is responsible for co-curricular programs and for the daily life of the seminarians, especially their conduct as it befits men preparing for the priesthood and as it contributes to a wholesome spirit of the community.

The Pastoral Director
The Pastoral Director bears the the responsibility of organizing and coordinating the various apostolates to be undertaken by the seminarians according to their age and capacities.

The Dean of Studies
The Dean of Studies is responsible for implementing educational policies. He is responsible for curriculum, courses, methods of instruction, the quality and performance of faculty and students; he is also the personalilzed link between the faculty and studen-body in academic matters.

The House Minister
The House Minister is responsible for the financial and physical aspects of the seminary. He supervises non-academic personnel and strives for an afficient management of property and services. With the Rector, he prepares a budget for consideration by the Bishop. He administers the approved budget with responsibility for the receipt and disbursement of funds. He will prepare regular budget and cash flow reports.

THE ROLE OF THE BISHOP

As the chief representative of Christ in the local Church the Ordinary is the head of the entire Christian community and in a particular way, of the seminary community. Responsibility for all seminary formation programs --- spiritual, intellectual, disciplinary and pastoral--- falls primarily on him.
