This site is dedicated to promoting the goals, mission and reporting on current events affecting TWG Productions, a grassroots non-profit company that works with American Indian nations to promote and preserve their native languages. Most recently, TWG Productions has been working with the Comanche of Oklahoma to develop educational media targeted toward preschool children and their families. TWG Productions began as a church project, funded in part by grants and donations from the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee, Chicago Area Unitarian Universalist Committee, AT&T, Telephone Pioneers of America, North Central College (Naperville, Illinois) and Random House, Inc. Its modest beginnings gave no indication of how successful its project would become. In 1994, TWG Productions partnered with the Comanche Language and Cultural Preservation Committee, a group of volunteers dedicated to bringing their language back to a "living" language. By combining TWG Productions founders' background in developing learning tools and the Committee's well defined goals and objectives, TWG Productions has created computer software, language flashcards, audio and video teaching aids as well as the first Comanche Picture Dictionary. With the support of the Comanche community, TWG Productions also developed a line of culturally accurate cloth dolls. TWG Productions is also in the beginning stages of creating a series of thirty minute television shows where Comanche language and culture are stressed. Once the shows are produced, they will be shown on public access television stations across Oklahoma as well as Naperville, Illinois' public access television, NCTV (Channel 17). TWG Production's primary goal is to create learning tools for preschool children, the optimal age for learning a second language. A secondary goal is to provide financial support to the native communities that are trying to save their languages. Whenever possible, TWG Productions avails itself of the businesses and craftspeople of the community. For example, TWG Production's T-shirts are printed by a native businessman and all of the dolls it sells are hand made by Comanche women served by the Language Committee.
