Jobs For Illinois Graduates officers recently attended the Annual Leadership Development Conference (LDC) on October 6-7. The officers attending were: President Jamie Bauer, Vice-President Nick Tolar, Secretary Becca Grisham, Treasurer Brandi Sadler, Reporter Kurt Petrich, and Historian Amanda Albers, along with Career Specialist Mr. Heath Keller and Faculty member Ms. Meagan McCrary. The two-day conference took place at Charlie Brown Park in Flora, Illinois.
The LDC provided activities for recognizing and developing leadership skills. It helps prepare officers for their careers, and recognize their obligation to the community. Social activities were designed to provide an outlet for student enthusiasm, motivation, and membership interaction. There were a variety of workshops teaching trust, teamwork, and officer responsibilities. "The workshops taught us how to be better leaders to our class and community. In addition, it taught us how to work together to accomplish a common goal," President Jamie Bauer, Anna-Jonesboro. Students greeted the guest speaker, Mr. Fritchnitch, Flora High School principal, with great enthusiasm. A-J Secretary Becca Grisham enjoyed his message and said, "He taught us how reaching our goals are very important and that all of us should have fun while doing it."
The Oil-Belt Christian Camp hosted the event by providing the facilities for everyone’s stay. The southern region of the Illinois Career Association would like to thank everyone involved for their hospitality. Special thanks to Mr. Jim Mann, Executive Director.
