I've started this page to be a tribute to the women that I know who have
been a positive example, have achieved the heights of success, and who, in
my opinion, deserve the attention of the world. These women work in obscurity
for the most part, raising families and working either inside or outside the home.
Each, however, makes a contribution to the world that cannot be underestimated.
So, what is a phenomenal woman? What does she do?
A Phenomenal Woman:
- Maintains the ability to love when loving is the most difficult
- Simultaneously builds a home, a career, a family and herself
- Believes that she can achieve and, by achieving, inspires others to acheive
- Holds fast to friends without smothering them
- Meets life head-on
- Is willing to risk failure in order to succeed
- Believes in the value of her work, whether in the home or outside of it
- Above all, a phenomenal woman is herself in the face of the pressure to conform to someone else's ideals.
I will dedicate this page to the phenomenal women in my life. Some are
major presences on the World Wide Web. Some are quietly going about their
lives with courage and bravery. And some are just phenomenal.
- Gayla
- I don't really know what to say about Gayla except that she has been
my friend for twenty years, through our ups and downs with both husbands
and children. I am glad to say that we have both settled down a bit. She married and
moved away nine years ago and lives exactly 305 miles from my house. At that time,
she left a career in vocational education and moved to a small town with little other
than personal happiness to offer her. She has not been idle, though, as you can see
on her web-page. It's another project that she jumped into with both feet, just
like she does everything. One of the things that I admire most about Gayla is the
fact that she does nothing half-way. If she's not in for 100%, she's not in at all.
I thank God that she was 100% for me!
- Pier
- Pier is one of those people who is completely herself. An herbalist (and a good one too),
a breeder of horses and dogs, a wife, a mother, a writer, and a lover of fine literature,
Pier combines ideas and philosophies that seem to be completely incompatible and is probably one of the most unique
people I have ever met. Be sure to check out her pages and order a potion or two. They work.
- Bree
- Some people may think that it is only a mother's pride when she considers her daughter
to be a phenomenal woman. You bet I'm proud. I know enough to know that all children are
not perfect--in fact, most children are not--and I know that Bree has made choices that I wish she
had not. That, however, is beside the point. I believe that phenomenal women cope with life and
the choices they have made by taking responsiblity and applying their talents and energies towards
making their situations better. I admire Bree for not clinging, not quitting, and adapting to situations
for which she had little (if any) preparation. I admire Bree for facing her life--head on, and
for not being overwhelmed. She has held up under the one of the most stressful situations I have
ever been a witness to and has flourished. Every day, the light at the end of her tunnel grows bigger and
brighter because she walked bravely in the darkness. Needless to say, this page will always have
something about Bree.
