April 19, 1995, a day like any other for many people. No one suspected that this day would become a day of great devastation for the people of Oklahoma City. Terror in the heartland all over the media. The Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building had been bombed at 9:02 AM, but by whom? Many people speculated that it was a terrorist from another country, little did they know it was one of our own. Police weren't aware at the time but ninety minutes later they had the very bomber in custody on a fire arms charge. It seemed as the nation paused for one brief moment the country was stunned that a terrorist act had happened in America. The nation was on a man hunt for the three men that had been sketched and their faces posted all over the news. Three days later Timothy McVeigh was arrested in connection to the bombing. He fit the description of John Doe number one. Terry Nichols suspect number two surrendered in Kansas he had heard police were looking for him. On May 10th he was formally charged in connection to the bombing. On June 13th, 1997, a jury who found him guilty sentences Timothy McVeigh to die by lethal injection. One hundred sixty-eight people died on that fateful day. One hundred sixty-five adults and nineteen children died as a result of the bombing. There was a daycare center located inside the building to make it easier for parents with children. It’s a shame things like this happen, but it does, and it happens more often then none. Another tragedy that could have been avoided.
