Hi!I joined this group to be able to talk to other parents who are homeschooling, hopefully especially parents of teenagers. Although we love it here -- the Hill Country is so beautiful -- feel a bit isolated, having just moved here from California in June.
Technically, my older daughter was not home schooled but actually an auto-didact from age thirteen until she entered college as a junior majoring in theoretical astrophysics before dropping out to attend medical school.
My younger daughter Roxanne is fourteen and an Einstein at socialization but as befuddled by math as I am. This is her first year of homeschooling and she fervently hopes it will be her last. Because school doesn't begin 'til after Labor Day in California we just started studies last week. Thanks so much to whomever organized this group and for the software.
Last week I filled a Chinese fish bowl with water and left it on the patio as an ersatz bird bath but instead found a dead frog floating in it a few mornings ago. Yesterday Roxanne dissected the frog -- the last chapter in her freshman biology textbook. So I'm encouraged.
All the best -- Helen
