Hi.  We are Kim and George, the once and future homeschoolers of at least some of our four children.  I homeschooled my second child for a year when it became PAINFULLY obvious that the school was damaging his mental health.  He now attends a Montessori school and is in the 6th grade.  Unfortunately, that is the last year for this school.  I expect that we may be back to homeschooling at that point.  My fourth child also seems ill-suited for the public schools and may be home soon.

On the other hand, I have been spending much of my newly-free time in developing a private school option for gifted kids.  I hope (1) that I can figure out a useful role for myself that will at least allow my children to attend and (2) that the school will combine the advantages of independent and self-selected study with the advantages of working with a group.  If you want to check it out, go to http://gtacademy.virtualave.net.  Go back often -- lots more information will be added soon.
