Hi! We moved to Corpus Christi last summer from Hawaii because my husband took a job here.  We have two children, a 10-yr-old girl and a 7-yr-old boy, both gifted.  Our daughter had varied experiences in public school, first in California, then in Hawaii. Our son was only in public school for 2-3 months. Bad school experiences convinced us that homeschooling was definitely the right thing for us, despite some family opposition and the financial and personal sacrifices, and it has served us very well.  However, we are finally able to deal with some serious questions about the possibility of learning disabilities.

        We had our daughter tested about a year and a half ago -- wide subtest score scatter on the WISC (and other test findings) confirmed our fears that there are problems we can't quite pin down. Between moving, a death and a stroke among our grandparents, there has been no real chance to pursue the testing until now.

        I'm looking eagerly to find people who have had their gifted kids tested for ld, and learn from their experiences.  We're in touch with the Gifted Development Center in Denver, but would naturally like to find something closer if possible.  We'd like to get in touch with other gifted families generally!
