Eleven and unders Division 3, 2003

What an enjoyable season we had!

The eight regular girls in this team were given a big "Welcome to 11 & Unders" in that memorable first game of the season where they experienced the huge step up from 9 & Unders. In that game we lost to Mt Barker United - was that an omen?

Although our time was short at each practice the girls were eager to listen and learn and they adapted very well to the faster pace of this level.

Half way through the season found us top of the ladder and this encouraged the girls to continue with great form with our defence being our best asset. The defensive role was shared between Brittany, Katie, Courtney and newcomer Elizabeth. What a great defence they made. For the whole season we only had 70 goals scored against us - an average of not six goals per game! On the other hand our highest score for the season was 13!Coaches Award winner

The girls have had to learn how to cope with much taller opposition and have improved their team play markedly - but always have a long way to go.

Our attacks (consisting of Bethany, Sarah, Georgie and Chelsea), have worked well together and we are proud of how the whole team never gave up.

Then we came to the finals. Lobethal Lutheran are soo tall and eventually got the better of us in the first semi: 23-6. We came into the preliminary final with much hope. It was so cold for small fingers. The teams 'never-give-up' attitude showed through when we drew level at the end of full-time after being down all day. And it was still a draw after two, seven minute halves. Who could believe it! They scored, we scored … they eventually threw two goals in a row to give the Mount Barker United team victory and for us look forward to next season with much experience under our belt.

Thanks girls for the fun and I hope you continue to enjoy your netball next season.

Mrs. Gore, Coach.
