"SAUL HAD HIS CHANCE

AND YOU HAVE YOUR’S"

Saul of old was called by God to rule and reign . . . he had his opportunity to yield to the calling and watch God work it out through him.

We know from our present position, that Saul failed as he allowed his own ways to come first. We can look at his testimony and see the similarity to our own position . . . with a difference — we will yield to the steps that God has provided and by His grace and we will not fail but see the glory of the Lord manifest.

THIS IS A POSITIVE ACCOUNT OF GOD’S CALL TO SAUL. Do not allow the end result of Saul’s choices to take away from the beauty of how God placed before him (and us) the stepping stones that he (we) might become confident in the Lord . . . for He that has called you is faithful to bring it to pass . . . so please purpose in your heart to yield to His anointing.

1 Sam 10:1 Then Samuel took a vial of oil (= baptism in the Holy Spirit), and poured it upon his head (to affect his thinking), and kissed him (= expression showing God’s love), and said, Is it not because the LORD hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?

‘Saul’ means Hb. ask or enquire. In the nature (name) of Saul, there was a hungry nad enquiring spirit. God put it there and it is in you also. You are equipped to grow int he Lord and become aware of His purposes for your life.

Called and equipped by God . . .

Samuel = a type of the Spirit of God.

‘Saul’ = a picture of those apprehended of God to be His visible representation in the earth. . . His ‘overcomers’. He had heard a word from God was about to receive the enabling anointing.

captain’ = one who ‘rules and reigns’. . . over his portion.

his inheritance’ =all people (He gives the heathen for our inheritance - Psalm 2:8).

(2) When thou art departed (moving on from that initial anointing) from me to day, then thou shalt find two men by Rachel's sepulchre in the border of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will say unto thee, The asses which thou wentest to seek are found: and, lo, thy father hath left the care of the asses, and sorroweth (=concerned) for you, saying, What shall I do for my son?

How is God speaking to you? Still looking for the ‘asses’ of distraction? Father’s watchful eye is always with us. . . to help us.

Anointed first . . . then he meets up with TWO MEN with TWO WORDS.

1. ‘the asses of your earlier concern are taken care of’. . . NO MORE ‘WORKS’.

2. A realization of Father’s care for him. GRACE is very real . . . God’s provision GIVEN so that we can do His will.

Where did this take place? BY RACHEL’S TOMB. Remember that Rachel died giving birth to Benjamin.

in the border’ speaks of not quite being in ‘the area’ yet! What area? ‘Son of my right hand’ - area! The place of the overcomers.

Zelzah’ =Hb.6766: clear or dazzling shade. Any darkness or ignorance (shade) will be dispelled by this clear and dazzling overshadowing. . . and remember ‘overshadowing’ always produced new life!

The principle here is the LAYING DOWN OF ONE’S OWN LIFE IN ORDER TO BRING FORTH NEW LIFE. . . in us and in others.

GET THAT INITIAL RELEASE OF THE SPIRT . . .

AND GO ON FROM THERE!

(3) Then shalt thou go on forward from thence, and thou shalt come to the plain of Tabor, and there shall meet thee three men going up to God to Bethel, one carrying three kids, and another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a bottle of wine:

THE NEXT ENCOUNTER on your chosen course . . . THE HOUSE OF GOD.

You will now meet THREE MEN . . . GOING UP TO GOD. Catch on where they were heading UP. . . away from the ‘earthy’ to the ‘heavenly’ thinking realms in their progress. What a marvellous example for Saul . . . GO On, Saul and GO UP, Saul!

Where did this meeting take place? ON THE PLAIN OF TABOR.

‘plain’ = a flat place of no ups and downs! Denoting a steady walk.

‘Tabor’ = broken (from its terrain). Rt. word = to consume (by fire). ‘He shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire’ . . . and ‘every mountain shall be made low’ in your lifestyle.

‘Bethel’ = House of God = His Body.

This location (stepping stone in our walk) speaks of brokenness. Tabor is mentioned 10 times in the Word. This shows us that the ‘law’ will be applied to us until we capitulate and say ‘I can’t’. . . that will show a full dependency upon the Lord and a full giving up of our own abilities and achievements. Self-consciousness and shyness will have to go . . . for if they are still around, then it is evidence that the ‘old man’ is not dead and buried!

GO ON AND GO UP!

. . . to bethel, the House of God — the fellowship of believers — the fellowship of the saints — where GOOD FELLOWSHIP is provided. We need to have close fellowship with others who are going up into God. A fellowship with people who no longer want ‘things’ and to do what the ‘world’ expects. God will bring the right type of fellowship[ across your path. You will know and recognize the true ‘House of God’, because the saints who have walked a little longer than you have, they will have . . . (3) kids, (3) loaves and (1) bottle of wine. They will have an awareness of the complete (3) sacrifice that Jesus provided for us at Calvary —

the ‘3-kids’ = a complete sacrifice sufficient for Passover, Pentecost and Tabernacles.

‘3-loaves’ . . . all three expressions of the word: The WRITTEN WORD, the SPOKEN WORD and the LIVING WORD (Jesus).

‘a skin of wine’ . . . anointed revelation that will establish one in present truth. . . a TOTAL of 7 items — a perfect provision to meet Saul’s needs. This is some of the provision that the Baptism in the holy Spirit releases to us.

(4) And they will salute thee, and give thee two loaves of bread; which thou shalt receive of their hands.

God has His vessels that will pour out to you just what you need at any given moment.

These of the (true) House of God will acknowledge you, receive you and they will share from their supply what you need at this ‘turn in your road’. They will give you, Saul, the WRITTEN WORD and SPOKEN word for they know that they will lead you into experiencing the LIVING WORD as you feed and grow. (Psalm 40:6-8 in the spirit. . . God doesn’t want you to sacrifice in order to obtain for HE has already done it for us. In the 2 loaves volume of the book (OT + NT) it speaks of the Lord and His will . . . I delight to do that will — that is why I am ‘in the word’ to ascertain His will that HE will highlight to me and will also speak directly to me). {The two loaves could also be the word IN you and THROUGH you}.

NEXT STEPPING-STONE . . . THE HILL OF GOD

(5) After that thou shalt come to the hill of God, where is the garrison of the Philistines: and it shall come to pass, when thou art come thither to the city, that thou shalt meet a company of prophets coming down from the high place with a psaltery, and a tabret, and a pipe, and a harp, before them; and they shall prophesy:

Next, apprehended Saul, you will meet a company of saints that prophesy . . . that speak forth what they have heard from God. They have been beyond ‘Bethel’ (where they are wonderfully ‘mothered’) and beyond the Hill of God . . . a higher place in the Spirit. . . THE HIGH PLACE in the spirit — a place where the relationship of a son with His Father is developed . . . that is truly a ‘high place’.

Where will he meet these ones? THE HILL OF GOD. . . but they have been to a high place — the high place where the high-calling is coming forth to magnify the high priest surrounded by the high praises etc.

They will ‘salute thee’. ‘Salute’ means Hb.7965 to be friendly; seeking one’s welfare. e.g. "How are you?" and wait for a truthful reply!

Right here in the Hill of God,, would you believe, there are PHILISTINES !!! Those people who move in the ‘natural’ realm and are disciplined in arguing the scriptures to hinder one’s progress onwards and upwards. FEAR is their main weapon and it is the enemy of FAITH and TRUST. Oh yes, they are trespassing in ‘the hill of God’. They shouldn’t be there! Therefore they need removing!

‘A company of prophets’ = a wider fellowship of those who hear the Lord and are able to speak what they hear. A corporate expression or a flowing together as God draws them to Himself and He is acknowledged as ‘Lord’ in their lives . . . individually and in the gathering of the saints. They are accompanied by ‘worship and music in the spirit’ . . .‘before them’ in their walk and progress are the high praises which so often lead one into hearing the word of the Lord and prophesying and which certainly have their unifying effect.

(6) And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.

The fellowship of the saints who have the liberty of the Spirit is always encouraging and it sure rubs off on the apprehended ones. . . till we all come to the measure and stature of the fullness of Christ.

FOR GOD IS WITH YOU

(7) And let it be, when these signs are come unto thee, that thou do as occasion serve thee; for God is with thee.

(8) And thou shalt go down before me to Gilgal; and, behold, I will come down unto thee, to offer burnt offerings, and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace offerings: seven days shalt thou tarry, till I come to thee, and show thee what thou shalt do.

Tabernacles lasts for seven days! Offering these sacrifices is like a spiritual checkup!

The Burnt Offering of full surrender of your thinking to God;

Peace Offerings of being covenanted in a practical way with God to reach all men (for there will be peace with all men on earth) — 24-7 availability for Him. All these helps are available for us and are, most times, prerequisites for knowing Father’s will.

Walk by faith in what you have heard and, WHEN YOU SEE THESE SIGNS, MOVE OUT WITH GOD.

(9) And it was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day.

GOD GAVE APPREHENDED SAUL A NEW HEART. . . a new release. . . Matt.12:34 Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

(10) And when they (Samuel and Saul — The Holy Spirit and you as one Spirit) came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them.

(11) And it came to pass, when all that knew him beforetime saw that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then the people said one to another, What is this that is come unto the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?

You’ve been changed, Saul, and it shows. You have a testimony and it is your walk & talk.

The essence of ‘Kish’ which means bow or bend (as in setting a trap), implies no more ensnaring you with your own words. ("Do you know what so-and-so said?" And in the ensuing conversation, their words are exaggerated and twisted to the original speaker’s harm . . . which can result in being trapped and restricted from moving freely among God’s people).

Saul, you are among those who hear God’s voice and declare what they have heard.

(12) And one of the same place answered and said, But who is their father? Therefore it became a proverb, Is Saul also among the prophets?

Who is their Father? What source did Saul have for this change-around?

(13) And when he had made an end of prophesying, he came to the high place.

Saul walked in his high calling to that time. . .

SAUL started out so well . . . but did not endure through to the end that he might be saved fully. . . but we, by the grace of God, will go through the stepping-stones to the HIGH PLACE .

LET US CRY OUT TO THE LORD, OUR GOD, THAT WE MIGHT HEAR HIS VOICE AND DECLARE WHAT HE SAYS SHOULD BE DECLARED. . . FOR THAT WILL SET OTHERS FREE. §
