Enoch represents to us a people in this hour who desire to be undergirded by the Lord Jesus Christ Himself.

Whose faith do we live by? Our wobbly faith? No! The faith of JESUS CHRIST, the Son of God who dwells in us. . . HE will do it in us. What a glorious substantial confidence we can have in the person of the Lord Jesus who has promised never to leave or forsake us. . . with no conditions given!

Jared: Hb. = descent. What has been passed on to us is the knowledge that, ‘the way up is down!’ Enoch: Hb. = to make narrow; to train up; to initiate; to put something in the mouth. Our calling becomes an expression out of our nature. We have surrendered to the Lord Jesus Christ . . . He is our Lord and our Father and as such, He has the right to train us and to bring forth His will out of our mouths. . . out of our lives.

(19) And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:

Enoch was 65 years old when he brought forth Methuselah whose name means ‘it will happen when he is dead’. The 65th. Day of the Hebrew year was the ‘Day of Pentecost’. Methuselah was the oldest recorded man who, I believe, was a pattern of God’s desire for a man to live out the thousand year ‘DAY of the Lord’. He missed it by a mere 31 years. Jesus easily covered for the balance with His 33 years! As we follow this distinct pattern of Enoch, we too have had the true man of God brought forth (in us) when we were baptized in the Holy Spirit — our personal ‘Day of Pentecost’. This ‘new man’ within is maturing and being changed towards being fully what God intended for him. . . . to come forth in His image and likeness (Gen. 1:26). Christ Who is the image of God (2 Corinthians 4:4). Christ is corporate in this hour for we are His body with the intent that we shall become the harvest of that Seed which was planted in ‘our earth’.

Enoch WALKED WITH GOD after he had produced this son. Following our baptism in the Holy Spirit, God will give us ‘300 years’ in which we will experience complete deliverance (300) from the flesh man. HE will give us the exact amount of time for us to overcome our old carnal thinking to manifest complete deliverance from the effects of the old man that was destroyed at the cross.

Enoch walked the full year (365 day pattern) . . . the full required expectation that God had for him . . . in other words, he completed the course. He endured to the end and was fully saved (Matthew 24:13). . . spirit, mind and body was fully in the heavenly realm. Enoch was no more ‘of the earth, earthy’.

What does it really mean, ‘to walk with God’?

Can two walk together, except they be agreed? (Amos 3:3). They need to be agreed as to where they are going, when they are going and the speed that they will travel. . . else they will not be together!

We walk with each one who is expressing the Lord and who is truly desirous of expressing Him. In this hour there is a marvellous new oneness being experienced as we willingly lay aside old traditional beliefs and programs for the true expression of the Kingdom of God. . . where He is King with absolute authority. A new and vibrant people anticipating the coming forth of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus in which all aspects of the self life are laid aside in order to obtain the prize of unlimited and endless life. This people is alive in God for His life is what is being seen.

Nothing enough in oneself, so that God can be everything. Only people who have truly laid down everything . . . they have gone through the fire of God . . . the baptism of fire (Luke 3:16) and have nothing left of the ‘old man’, the old natural-centered life . . . who have a genuine testimony that for me to live is Christ (Philippians 1:21). ‘To bring to nothing the things of this world’ is to rule with Christ from Father’s throne. This is the Kingdom of God in action achieving all that God initially set out to do.

When we ‘are not’, we shall not be noticed or recognized by the religious systems of man. There will no need for advertising of our name or where we have come from. We will have no rights and no demands on God. It is guaranteed that the ‘old man’ will fight to the bitter end. . . for he is surely doomed to extinction.

Where to? Heaven? Yes, where God dwells. . . where ‘God is’! The realm where spirit operates . . . where God rules. . . = the Kingdom of God. The word ‘took’ implies that God was very much with him all the way!

God acknowledged Enoch’s walk and took him from the place where there were many influences that would try to hinder his progress or hold him back, to the place of incorruption and immortality.

‘absent’ simply means ‘out of town (yours’). One is exhorted to leave one’s ‘comfort zone’ where the ‘outer man’ produces his demands that are almost irresistible! Notice this context is ‘walking by faith’ which will bring one to a place where the outer man’s demands are resistible and are resisted. It comes down to a matter of priority. The personal revelation that this change is coming, will increase our determination to so yield to God . . . labouring to enter into His rest.

How did God do it? We will have to go back and look at the life of Jesus Christ after His resurrection.

Jesus moved in a dual capacity . . as Son of Man and as Son of God. As Son of Man, He fully identified with the natural side of life being tested in all points like us. Note this verse, ‘He that is joined to the Lord is one spirit’. Jesus was certainly joined to His Father (Lord) and was therefore ‘a spirit man’ walking about in a body. I and My Father are one. This two-in-one expression of the Word (God) made flesh is fully manifested after Jesus was raised from the dead. We see Him able to eat on the beach with the disciples (John 21) and also come into the upper room through the walls! Resurrection life removes all barriers that the natural life is held by. When Jesus was raised from the dead, He was then just as much ‘at home’ (= ‘absent’ from the body) in Father’s realm of Spirit and yet could easily manifest Himself in the ‘seen’ realm.

Enoch was of the lineage of Seth. Some show that Melchisedec that met Abram in Genesis 14, was Seth who was still alive at that time: he would have been the aged and honoured patriarch and could well have been both priest as well as king. Anyway this priest (first) in the order of Melchisedec knew the El Elyon (the Most High God) aspect of God. He passed this revelation on to Abram that Jahweh was El Elyon and that He was declared to be the Possessor of heaven and earth. We have seen that God showed Himself to His creation as Son of Man (earth) and Son of God (heaven) joining the two in one expression . . . the Lord Jesus Christ, the Pattern Son.

Enoch experienced the Melchisedec calling — being as God ‘took him’, he did not see death and therefore was endued with the power of an endless life.

(testimony . . .= Rotherham Bible says it this way: ‘it has been witnessed that he had become well pleasing to God.’

First and foremost, moving by faith pleases God (v.6). He is delighted when we just sit at His feet and receive from Him. He is more delighted to share His purposes with us than we are to hear them!

Secondly, anything associated with His adopting us as mature sons (adoption = the placing of a mature son — see Kingdom Nugget No.1), gives Him pleasure (Ephesians 1:5). Then the fruit of this is the giving to us of His Kingdom (Luke 12:32) obviously when we are enabled to handle it correctly and all the time.

‘must’ = it is imperative that one believes HE IS . . . that Jesus Christ IS COME in the flesh (I John 4:2).

The ‘HOW’ is answered for us here in Hebrews. The word ‘hebrew’ means he that walks on the other side. This inspired writer tells us that Enoch received immortality BY FAITH. . . through translation.

‘translate’: Gk. = metatithemi (meta = amidst: tithemi = a passive placing [of rest or birthing]). . .to be transferred to a 100% place of rest . . .For in Him we live, and move and have our being (Acts 17:28). Such a moving that he became the extension of God without any limitations.

Enoch experienced this transferring from the earthly realm to the heavenly BY FAITH. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 14:17). Enoch therefore must have heard about these possibilities directly from God . . . AND He was enabled to believe them . . . fully! (John 6:29).

Here in Jude, Enoch is linked with the coming of the Lord. ‘Coming’ = ERCHOMAI = the appearing. . . the appearing of the LORD in those who have attained or been changed into His image and Likeness (Gen.1:26 and 2 Cor. 3:18). He will appear in a new ECCLESSIA (= Church = called-out ones) which God is bringing forth now out of the ashes of the old traditional systems.

This is a poor and biased translation, for the Greek accurately declares, ‘The Lord comes in myriads of Himself.’ This is why the present work of the Spirit is to change us completely to be like Him, for when we shall see Him, we shall be like Him (I John 3:1-3). Only those who will be ‘as Him’ can expect to accomplish the same things that Jesus did and greater . . . in an umbroken expression of His will. To walk in this way, we shall have had to loose everything of the natural. The seventh day resting that God does, it is because He then has a many membered man in Hi image who He has brought forth on the sixth day to do His full bidding on the seventh day.

Why was such a piece of information added in here? It lines with the ‘seventh day’ wherein God rests because He has a ‘many-membered man’ who, being in ‘His image and likeness’ is well able to manifest His will fully. Why not? This corporate man will be functioning fully out of the mind of Christ in which is God’s will and plan of the ages.

Enoch was prophesying these words while he was in the earthly realm. Jude receives this revelation from God (for there was no way he could have known this fact on his own!). Out of the changed nature of Enoch this prophecy comes forth . . . the spirit of the prophet is subject to the prophet. Enoch could well have seen these days that we are in as he spoke those words — recorded by God using Jasher etc. God used Enoch to declare this mighty word because Enoch had come to a place of walking with God and counting himself as nothing. He also had received a ‘word’ from God about not seeing death . . . an invitation to be of the Melchisedec order.

What is then the purpose of God bringing us forth in His image and likeness? Fist let me reiterate that those He brings to this place are the ones who walk with God ‘24-7’ (24 hours a day and 7 days a week!) and who are nothing in their own right . . . that’s right, no ministry, no reasoning powers of your own, no abilities or ‘talents’ and no other motive for living other than to magnify the Lord Jesus Christ. This looks like the ‘cross’ has done its full work in these ones.

Ruling and reigning can then, and only then, be commenced with Christ. I and my Father are one must be our corporate testimony. JUDGMENT is brought to bear on each one by placing the love of God alongside their life. Conviction will result and the provision of the cross applied . . . thus a new creation will come forth.

Those who will be judged here are basically the negative people, those who cannot control their tongue, those being in leadership with pride of position and all who look to see their humanhood established or increased etc.

Remember the words given to you by the Holy Spirit through sanctified exhorters.

The gates of hell shall not hold out on these overcomers fulfilling Father’s will — those God is drawing will be rescued from the fires.

God has made available for us His keeping power through all His dealings and circumstances that He has brought our way. The cross provision whereby Jesus said, It is finished, is sufficient to present us faultless . . . truly ‘born of God’ (I John 5:18) . . . no longer sinning . . . therefore death then, will have been overcome for the wages of sin is death. No more sin (being faultless) means no wages to be paid. . .fully alive in the King in His Kingdom — yes, and very busy!

This Enoch pattern declares that, because we are in the seventh day, this corporate Enoch is the seventh-day expression of what he expressed in a single vessel.
