Powers: Healing, Sleep, Protection Peridot - which can also be known as 'Olivine' and 'Chrysolite', is a beautiful transparent stone usually found in varying shades of yellow-green. As a healing stone it said to be 'a good anti-toxin gem, cleaning most organs and glands'. It acts as a tonic, strengthening and regenerating the body, and can help with various problems from insect bites, and stomach ulcers, to problems with the liver and eyesight. It has been used to help during child birth as it is said to help stimulate contractions. Peridot is worn or carried for these healing purposes. It is also said that 'healing cups' were made from Peridot and that any medicinal 'potions', drunk from a peridot 'glass', were likely to be much more effective in bringing about a cure. Peridot also reduces stress and calms anger. As it is a calming influence, it can help promote restful sleep if worn to bed. As a protective stone it was worn as an amulet, set into gold, and was said to guard against 'the evil eye', among other things... In Melody's book "Love is in the Earth" she says " It provides for a shield of protection around the body." She goes on to advise that you should remove any peridot jewellery before having healing, or chakra balancing, but after treatment wearing or carrying peridot will prevent outside influences from disrupting your newly balanced chakras!
