As part of the
requirements of an Alumnae Chapter of Alpha Sigma Tau, we must support a
local collegiate chapter. Most of the members of the Charleston, WV,
Area Alumnae Chapter are alumnae of the Gamma Mu chapter at West Virginia
University Institute of Technology and have been supporting the chapter
since having left. We gladly adopted them as our collegiate chapter
to assist with our time, knowledge, or money.
To take a look at
what the Gamma Mu collegiate chapter is doing, check
out their web site.
Since the alumnae
chapter has been somewhat inactive over the past couple years, events and
information are slightly outdated:
Homecoming 2000 was
a nice way for some of the alumnae from Gamma Mu to get back together with
alumni of other Greeks at WVU Tech. We had a great time meeting all
the new Gamma Mu sisters and pledged members during their Pig Roast with
Sigma Pi Fraternity. The day held the usual rainy, cold, dreary
weather, but no bad weather can hold back a good time for AST. Take
a look at some pictures.
Greek Week is one
time when alumnae support is often needed. However, the sisters of
Gamma Mu had no problem taking the title of Greek Week Champion once
again. The contest between the two National Panhellenic Sororities
at Tech was decided early on, but both AST
and DZ continued
play throughout the competition just to show that both sides were good
sports. Amy Hendershot, Tammy St.Clair, Amy K Griffith, and Heather
Morris went up to Tech on Wednesday to show their support, but of course
brought food! To see some recent pictures from Wednesday night's gym
events, click
